Answered Prayer #11777

When you are on top of a mountain, it’s exhilarating. Views are amazing! Life is sweet. In contrast, when you are at the bottom of a gigantic mountain it’s daunting. It’s so high. Will I be able to climb it? Life is scary. This was me a year ago; at the bottom of my mountain. My personal life had crumbled around me and my family. My husband and I faced debilitating illness. We lost our jobs, self-worth, direction and faced eventual repossession of our family home. Everything was out of my control. Being someone who seeks organisation and order, this was my hardest challenge. Everyone expected me to be a panicky mess, I was about to lose ‘everything’. It was in my place of secret despair that I decided not to stress. I chose to lean in to Father God. He was my provider. Not my husband or myself. He had already brought us through so much – why was this battle any different? During my trek of this mountain I learnt so much about myself. I learnt that you can still sing during thunderstorms and still have a complete inner peace when your circumstances shout chaos. I believed that, against all odds, our house would sell, even if in the last hour, before repossession. Which it did! Praise God! I believed that I would be accepted onto my local housing authority waiting list (a big no-no if you are a homeowner). I was! A lot of red tape and politics slashed by earthly angels God sent to personally fight my plight. I believed that my children and I, living in squashed circumstances, relying on family, would be worthwhile, that the perfect family home would become available. It needed to be a property that could be adapted if my mobility deteriorated (properties like these were few and far between). It needed to be near to my mum (my carer) and my back-up carer (my sister) and my daughters school. I was told I’d have to be prepared to accept the unaccepted, but I had such an amazing sense of peace it was indescribable. After a year we were called to view a house. It was situated 2 streets away from my mum and 5 from my sister! My daughter could walk to her secondary school. To my surprise, it ticked more boxes than the house we’d previously owned. It was beautiful and everything I asked for in prayer was supplied. I felt that everything I had lost had been restored and the best thing about it was that I had nothing to do with it. This whole experience has taught me that the same God who performed miracles for many, performs them for you and me. He is a living God who just wants you not to be overwhelmed beneath your mountain, but to seek Him and trust Him. ‘I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and answered my cry’. Psalm 40:1
