Answered Prayer #1789
I was going out walking with my partner and father-in-law in Derbyshire a few years ago, when my father-in-law tripped over a tree root and stumbled and fell very awkwardly hitting his face on a boulder, which resulted in a fracture and some bleeding. He seemed well enough to walk back to our car in a carpark (there was no mobile signal on the footpath but fortunately we had signal in the carpark). The emergency services sent out a paramedic and we took him to the nearest hospital which was quite a distance. He was assessed there as ‘in no immediate danger’, but had to go back the next day for a maxillofacial appointment where his X-ray was checked. We were on holiday in our favourite place so continued our holiday as best we could. About 2 days later I was on a longer walk on my own and went past a group of people who were to me clearly Christians because of the way they were praying about something where their minibus was parked. I left them to their prayer and I didn’t stop or ask them about this, as it clearly wasn’t my business. However, about 20 minutes later one of the men from this group who was praying caught up with me on my walk and told me he hoped that I wasn’t put out by them praying when I went past earlier. I told him that I was a Christian as well, and I asked him to pray with me there and then about my father-in-laws face. When, after his return from our holiday, he saw the specialist at this own hospital, this doctor was astonished at how well his face had healed, and that further surgery would not be required, and especially that the bones which had fractured had set into such a good position that further support wouldn’t be needed.
