Answered Prayer #12844
Our lovely young son was nurtured in a Christian family. He loved Jesus and his family. When he was 14 he suddenly began to change. His mood swings increased. Initially we put it down to the teenage years. Then we discovered he had been sniffing aerosols, and taking various drugs and got into trouble with the police. We were heartbroken and extremely concerned and frightened. We did not understand how and why this was happening. It was the most painful time of our lives. This continued for about 2 years, and prayed fervently as this is not the plan that God has for my beautiful son. He refused help and rejected anything we offered to help him. We kept loving him even though he changed so much that we did not know him anymore. At the time I was training for ministry and I knew it was an attack from the enemy on my family who I so loved. One late night my son was on his bike travelling along a disused railway line to the nearest town to get drugs. He got halfway and a man was travelling in the opposite direction. He said hello and he urged my son not to take drugs and cycled off. As he did my son shouted ‘what is your name’ he replied which was the same as my son’s. My son phoned me and told me what happened and he said he felt it was an angel who had met him. I believe so too. Another occasion I sensed my son was in even more danger than normal. I was desperate to get in touch with him. I prayed to God that he would come home. All I wanted to do was make a hot chocolate for him just as he used to love, and to take it to him as he snuggled down in bed. After praying and crying, I got a call. It was my son. He asked if there was anything wrong and I said I needed him to come home as I was concerned. Thankfully, and amazingly he agreed. I picked him up. As he got into the house and he walked upstairs to bed he asked, ‘Mum, could I have one of your hot chocolates please in bed?’. I nearly cried. It may not seem much but it was these miracles that kept me from sinking. And now, a few years later our son is completely off everything and focussing on a career as an airline pilot, and has no issues due to the drug and aerosol abuse. He and all the family recognise our prayers have been answered greatly and we cannot thank God enough for what he has done.
