Answered Prayer #11991
I was working as an aid worker in S. Sudan. I had been working in remote locations for 9 months. I was tired and had seen a lot of suffering and death. I had reached the limit of my endurance. A light aircraft was due to take me home the next day, but to do so it needed to land on a dirt airstrip: if it rained the airstrip would be non-useable for days, or even weeks. A tropical storm was brewing: from nowhere the sky became as black as night; winds were flattening everything; the air turned cold. It seemed inevitable that the runway would be washed away. I got into my tent – so stressed I couldn’t pray – so I started reading Psalm one as a prayer – things got worse – it was so dark I needed a torch – still I read on and prayed in my heart that God would save me. Gradually everything lightened, the skies cleared and by evening the clouds went and the sun came out. NOT ONE DROP OF RAIN FELL – 100km south they were completely washed out. I left for home the next day.
